Fast-Track support for Strategic Investments in Portugal
Developing large-scale projects in Portugal can be a complex journey, requiring coordination across multiple stages and entities. However, securing Portuguese Important Project (PIN) or Investment Project for the Interior (PII) status unlocks a powerful advantage—streamlining approvals and accelerating progress.
With direct support from key governmental bodies such as APA, CCDR, Floene, REN, and others, investors benefit from: ✔ Priority in licensing – ensuring faster approvals ✔ Simultaneous administrative processing – cutting through bureaucracy ✔ Significant reduction in timelines – getting projects off the ground quicker
For those looking to invest in Portugal, PIN/PII status is the key to unlocking efficiency and success.
“The problem of plastic pollution is a problem generated by all of us, and we all have a decisive role to play in solving it. We can't blame plastic! We must take responsibility for using this material in a more circular and sustainable way, ensuring that it never becomes pollution.” This is the ambition of the Portuguese Pact for Plastics. The Portuguese Pact for Plastics, an initiative led by the Smart Waste Portugal Association, brings together various entities along the plastics value chain, from companies in different sectors - retail, industry, recycling, etc. - as well as universities, research centers, sector associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), around this common vision. Today, more than 90 organizations have joined this pact.
Goals for 2025
Eliminate single-use plastics considered problematic and/or unnecessary;
Ensure that 100% of packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable;
Ensure that 70% or more of plastic packaging is effectively recycled, by increasing collection and recycling;
Incorporate an average of 30% recycled plastic in new plastic packaging;
Promote activities to raise awareness and educate consumers (current and future) about the circular use of plastics.
The 2025 Roadmap of the Portuguese Pact for Plastics represents the collective strategy of the members of this initiative to achieve the five goals by 2025. This document presents a set of activities and their results in the short, medium and long term of this initiative. It also presents the role of each entity, individually, and of all the members, collectively, in achieving the 2025 Goals. Thus, every year, the members of this pact will report their performance, in aggregate, in relation to each of the initiative's goals. This report will be released in October of each year.
